This is a rant born out of frustration from a media outlet that is advocating for the mentally ill, but just like in that hospital and Malik’s experience, nobody cares. It cuts straight into the hypocrisy of a society that takes endlessly while giving almost nothing back to its most vulnerable. Inspired by the true story behind Chronicles From the Inside, this piece exposes how institutions claim to ‘care’ for the mentally ill while stripping them of freedom, dignity, and voice.

It’s a call-out.

A wake-up.

A reminder that resilience has a cost — and silence has consequences.

This is for every person who’s ever been dismissed, ignored, detained, or made to feel invisible by the systems meant to protect them.
This is for the survivors who refused to break.
This is for the ones still fighting to be heard.
